Iranian 'Gold Carrier' to go to S Korea

Iranian feature 'Gold Carrier' has been selected to go on screen at the 23rd edition of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea.

Directed by Touraj Aslani, the Iranian film will go on screen at the New Currents section of the Korean festival.

The 85-minute flick chronicles Reza, a gold carrier who is couriering gold and jewelry from workshops to stores.

Robbed one day on his way, he wants to pay compensation, so encouraged by his friend Louie, he heads to an auction. But a wobbly Tehran market makes Reza’s situation even worse.

Hossein Ahmadinia, Saeed Aqakhani, Lotfollah Seyfi and Jaleh Sameti are among the 'Gold Carrier' cast.

The New Currents section is dedicated to competition among up-and-coming Asian film-makers' first or second feature that bestows two films with New Currents Award.

Movies from Sri Lanka, Japan, China, Bhutan, Germany, Nepal, Korea, and Kyrgyzstan will compete in this section.

The BIFF, held annually in Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia.

Launched in 1996 as the first international film festival in Korea, the BIFF is introducing new films and first-time directors, especially those from Asian countries.

The 23rd edition of the BIFF is slated for October 4-13 in the South Korean city of Busan.
